Why did I write this guide
My name is Arie (= lion) Gur (= cub) - I am 45 years old , I live in Haifa, Israel.
Listening to music at home is one of my favorite hobbies and having a good stereo equipment is a must to enjoy music at home.
I have been listening to music at home since the age of 16, by which time I assembled amplifiers by myself. I thought that I had great equipment and I didn't know what I was missing.
Later, I worked as a part time job in a stereo store. My job was to
assemble stereo equipment at customers houses.
Working there, I learned how sale men mislead customers - many times
because of lack in knowledge and sometimes because of sophisticated fake
- I know it now I didn't know it then - but I saw the sadness of customers
when they listened at home to the "Hi Fi" system they had just bought .
When it occurred to me that something was wrong with the way of Hi Fi sales as I saw it, I started to learn about the subject - and I did it for years.
Today I know I have enough knowledge to guide people on how to buy stereo equipment. I think my knowledge is essential for every music lover who wants to listen to music at home - and hear the music as close as possible to live music performance.
Two comments :
1. I work in a large software house in Israel and I earn my living
from software and
computers.
I have no commercial connections in any way to Hi Fi industry
or sales - and all I'm
talking about is general tools to evaluate
stereo systems - there is no name of any
firm here , nor any recommendation about any preference
for "x" manufacturer upon
"y" manufacturer .
2. As a person who lives in Israel - I hope mistakes in English will
be excused, and if
there are only few mistakes, all thanks to my nephew
ORI ROZENSTEIN.
